On the morning of Tuesday, January 6, a financing agreement was signed to provide equipment and educational materials for the Midwifery Program at Oman College of Health Sciences. This initiative aims to support three training centers located in the Al Dakhiliyah, Dhofar, and South Al Sharqiyah governorates, and is funded by the Bait Hassan Charitable Foundation in collaboration with Athar (the Health Endowment Foundation).
This agreement falls within the framework of a social development initiative designed to contribute to the preparation and qualification of a specialized national workforce in the field of midwifery—one of the most critical health disciplines related to maternal and child health. A report issued by the Midwifery Program noted that “the presence of nurses specialized in midwifery is of paramount importance in ensuring the health of both the mother and the fetus—before, during, and after childbirth—and contributes directly to improving the quality of healthcare services and reducing complications.” This underscores the strategic significance of this program and its vital role within the national healthcare system.
In keeping with a commitment to ensuring high-quality implementation and cost-efficiency, the Bait Hassan Charitable Foundation—in collaboration with the College of Health Sciences—dispatched an official delegation to the People’s Republic of China. The delegation’s mission was to physically inspect the required equipment and educational materials on-site and to verify their compliance with the highest quality standards. This visit contributed tangibly to reducing the cost of the materials without compromising their quality; furthermore, it served as a crucial reference point for identifying the College’s future requirements regarding educational and training equipment.
The Foundation affirmed that this initiative aligns with its vision to support health education and build sustainable national capacities, thereby generating a long-term impact on the quality of healthcare services and directly benefiting the community.
